What the official deficiency says

(h) The following requirements shall apply to medications which are centrally stored: (2) Centrally stored medicines shall be kept in a safe and locked place that is not accessible to persons other than employees responsible for the supervision of the centrally stored medication. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on observation, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above in 4 of 4 residents (R1- R4) which poses an immediate health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.

POC Due Date: 10/23/2024 Plan of Correction On 10/9/2024 Licensee replaced broken and non exitent locks on medication cabintet, while LPA Rodgers was at the facility. Licensee stated he will conduct In-Service training regarding locking medications and submit proof of training by POC due date.

H & S 1569.695 Emergency Plans (e) A facility shall have all of the following information readily available to facility staff during an emergency: (1) A resident roster with the date of birth for each resident… this requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on records review, the facility did not have a Resident Roster on file for 3 of 3 residents [R1, R2, & R3]. This posed a potential safety risk to persons in care.

What the official deficiency says

H & S Code Section 1569.695 Emergency Plans (c) A facility shall conduct a drill at least quarterly for each shift. The type of emergency covered in a drill shall vary from quarter to quarter, taking into account different emergency scenarios. An actual evacuation of residents is not required during a drill. While a facility may provide an opportunity for residents to participate in a drill, it shall not require any resident participation. Documentation of the drills shall include the date, the type of emergency covered by the drill, and the names of staff participating in the drill… this requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on records review, the facility did not have quarterly fire drills on file for the facility which posed a potential safety risk to 3 [R1, R2, and R3] of 3 persons in care.
