87411.Personnel Requirements - General.(d) All personnel shall be given on the job training or have related experience in the job assigned to them. This training and/or related experience shall provide knowledge of and skill in the following, as appropriate for the job assigned and as evidenced by safe and effective job performance:(4) Knowledge required to safely assist with prescribed medications which are self-administered. This requirement was not met based on evidence by interview. The licensee did not comply with the section cited above by medication not being safely dispensed to the correct resident which poses an immediate health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.

The licensee has agreed to read regulation 87411 entirely and send LPA self-certify letter that the regulation was read and understood. The licensee has agreed to conduct a medication training with all staff that are responsible for assisting with medication. The licensee has agreed to send LPA documentation that a medication training is scheduled. The licensee has agreed to send LPA written documentation once the training has been conducted that includes staff signatures and the date the training was attended.

(a) The licensee shall be permitted to accept or retain a resident who has a manageable bowel and/or bladder incontinence condition under the following circumstances:(1) The condition can be managed with any of the following:(D) The use of incontinent care products. Based on interviews and record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above knowingly providing pull-up diapers that did not fit R1, and that were causing R1 pain. The diapers provided were not able to manage incontinent care correctly which poses an immediate health, safety, or personal rights risk to persons in care.

The licensee has agreed to read regulation 87625 entirely and send self-certify letter to LPA that it was read and understood. The licensee has agreed to create an alternative plan for when residents run out of their correct diaper size to ensure residents are wearing the correct size diaper to manage incontinent care and ensure residents are not in pain from diapers provided.

Incidental Medical and Dental Care (a) A plan for incidental medical and dental care shall be developed by each facility. The plan shall encourage routine medical and dental care and provide for assistance in obtaining such care, by compliance with the following: (5) The licensee shall assist residents with self-administered medications as needed. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Facility staff did not give topical treatment medication as prescribed for Resident 1. This poses a potential health, safety, and personal rights risk to person's in care.
