(d) If the resident is unable to determine his/her own need for a prescription or nonprescription PRN medication, and is unable to communicate his/her symptoms clearly, facility staff designated by the licensee, shall be permitted to assist the resident with self-administration, provided all of the following requirements are met: (1) Facility staff shall contact the resident's physician prior to each dose, describe the resident's symptoms, and receive direction to assist the resident in self-administration of that dose of medication. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on observation and record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above by not calling physician regarding continuos use of PRN medication, given to resident for 14 consectuive days which poses/posed a potential health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.

POC Due Date: 12/01/2025 Plan of Correction Licensee will call physician and request verification on the PRN prescription to be given continous or if medication needs to be updated. Licensee will request written veriication and will send LPA copy of the update.
