What the official deficiency says

(c) If the resident's physician has stated in writing that the resident is unable to determine his/her own need for nonprescription PRN medication, but can communicate his/her symptoms clearly, facility staff designated by the licensee shall be permitted to assist the resident with self-administration, provided all of the following requirements are met: (2) Once ordered by the physician the medication is given according to the physician's directions. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on [(observation) (interview) (record review)], the licensee did not comply with the section cited above in not documenting properly the medication administration/refusal for R#2 and R#5 which poses/posed a potential health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.

POC Due Date: 09/23/2024 Plan of Correction Licensee will ensure that medication is given according to the physician's direction. As part of Plan of Correction (POC), licensee will re-train medtechs and persons who dispense medication regarding the importance of documenting properly on the resident's Medication Administration Records (MARs) at all times. As proof of correction, licensee will sent copies of in-service training to LPA via email before POC due date.

87224 Eviction Procedures (a) The licensee may evict a resident for one or more of the reasons listed in Section 87224(a)(1) through (5). Thirty (30) days written notice to the resident is required except as otherwise specified in paragraph (5) This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Based on interviews, and record review, On 2/3/22, S1 informed LPA, that informed R1's POA that R1 could not live in the facility, because of physical altercation with S4, which posed a potential health risk to residents in care.
