The type of emergency covered in a drill shall vary from quarter to quarter, taking into account different emergency scenarios. An actual evacuation of residents is not required during a drill. While a facility may provide an opportunity for residents to participate in a drill, it shall not require any resident participation. Documentation of the drills shall include the date, the type of emergency covered by the drill, and the names of staff participating in the drill. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on interviews and record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above. Emergency drills are not being conducted, which poses/posed a potential health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.
POC Due Date: 08/29/2025 Plan of Correction Licensee shall conduct and document an emergency drill and develop a written plan that outlines how facility will conduct and document drills going forward. Evidence of completed drill and written plan shall be submitted to CCLD by 08/29/2025.
(c) Licensees who accept and retain residents with dementia shall be responsible for ensuring the following: (5) Each resident with dementia shall have an annual medical assessment as specified in Section 87458, Medical Assessment, and a reappraisal done at least annually, both of which shall include a reassessment of the resident's dementia care needs. (A) When any medical assessment, appraisal, or observation indicates that the resident's dementia care needs have changed, corresponding changes shall be made in the care and supervision provided to that resident. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above in 5 of 5 resident files. Residents were not reappraised, leading to 1 resident leaving the building without staff knowledge. This poses an immediate health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.
POC Due Date: 09/14/2023 Plan of Correction Licensee to submit a written plan outlining how facility will ensure all reappraisals are updated when needed or at least annually. Self Certification that all appraisals are updated to be submitted to CCL by POC date of 10/13/2023.
(a) Each residential care facility for the elderly licensed under this chapter shall ensure that each employee of the facility who assists residents with the self-administration of medications meets all of the following training requirements: (1) In facilities licensed to provide care for 16 or more persons, the employee shall complete 24 hours of initial training. This training shall consist of 16 hours of hands-on shadowing training, which shall be completed prior to assisting with the self-administration of medications, and 8 hours of other training or instruction, as described in subdivision (f), which shall be completed within the first four weeks of employment. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Deficient Practice Statement Based on record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above in 5 of 5 staff records. Staff did not have evidence of completed training which poses a potential health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.
