Enumerated rights; severability (a) Residents of residential care facilities for the elderly shall have all of the following rights: (10) To be free from neglect . . .This requirement was not met as evidenced by staff failing to provide adequate care & supervision which posed a potential health & safety risk to residents in care. This requirement was not met as evidenced by resident (R1) developing multiple pressure injuries which posed an immediate health and safety risk to resident in care.

Immediate civil penalty of $500 assessed during visit for staff failing to provide adequate care and supervision to resident resulting in hospitalization and sustaining multiple pressure injuries while in care. Additional civil penalty determination is pending relating to resident’s serious bodily injury. A non-compliance conference meeting with CCLD will be scheduled at a later time.

What the official deficiency says

The facility shall be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair at all times. Maintenance shall include provision of maintenance services and procedures for the safety and well-being of residents, employees and visitors. (1) Floor surfaces in bath, laundry and kitchen areas shall be maintained in a clean, sanitary, and odorless condition. This requirement was not met as evidenced by resident’s unsanitary room which posed a potential health & safety risk to resident in care.
